Florian Ballhaus

Florian Marc Ballhaus (born October 1965 in Baden-Baden ) is a German cameraman and a son of the renowned German cameraman Michael Ballhaus .

Life

At the age of 17, he moved to the United States with his brother and parents. He began his career as a cameraman and camera assistant, including with Men in Black , Men in Black II , Gangs of New York , The Legend of Bagger Vance , Godzilla and Dracula .

In 1995 he went back to Germany to make a name for himself and to step out of the shadow of his father. In 1998 he shot an episode of Sex and the City , but immediately returned to Germany. TV films followed, e.g. B .: The forgotten life 1998, dream woman with side effects 1999, shame 1999, second-hand men 1999 and many more. In 2001 he ran the camera for Investigating Sex with Neve Campbell , Til Schweiger and Nick Nolte .

In 2005 he made the film Flightplan - Without Any Trace , which also marked his breakthrough in Hollywood, directed by the German Robert Schwentke with Jodie Foster and Sean Bean , and in 2006 Der Teufel wears Prada with Meryl Streep and directed by David Frankel . He also worked with Schwentke on other film projects.
