reception

The film received mostly negative reviews, but there were also positive ones.

The editors of kino.de judged: “A classic fish-out-of-water scenario lets east coast workaholics collide with the habits of cowboy country. […] Slapstick still plays a subordinate role in Lawrence's script, which, with varying degrees of success, relies primarily on dialog humor and character comics and also wants to rehabilitate a troubled marriage. Lawrence is not afraid of clichés, not even emotional ones, which is why Parker's desire to have children is emphasized with immediate, sensitive use of the piano. But after scripts for several hits by Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, the latter also directed, Lawrence knows what viewers want. Neurotic but sympathetic protagonists. [...] And comedy professionals like Parker and Grant, who seem like a well-rehearsed team despite their first comedy together. "

The verdict from Cinema was: “The cliché romance with the remarkably cumbersome title is entertaining but devoid of content. Predictable story developments arrive with dependable accuracy, Grant and Parker reeling off their usual comedy routine. Only old master Sam Elliott and Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen provide some originality as gnarled locals in supporting roles. Even the final confrontation with the villain is weak and too silly. Fans of the sunny movie darlings Grant and Parker will still have fun at the rustic country party. "

In the opinion of the Lexicon of International Films , the film is "an experienced romantic comedy that suffers from the unconvincing drawing of the female main character, which is largely absorbed by the coherent secondary characters and, above all, the charming main actor".

Awards

Sarah Jessica Parker was nominated for the 2010 Golden Raspberry for worst actress .
