Vincenzo Amato (artist)

Vincenzo Amato (born March 30, 1966 in Palermo ) is an Italian sculptor and actor .

Life

In 1986 he went to Rome for a few years , in 1993 he emigrated to the USA and settled in New York . There he works as a sculptor. His works, mainly made of metal, have been shown in New York galleries, but also in Milan , Rome and Palermo.

On the side he works as an actor again and again. Shortly after his arrival in New York, he met the director Emanuele Crialese , in whose films he played leading roles and with whom he is still close friends today. In 1999 he received the award for best actor at the Brussels International Film Festival for the film Once we were strangers .
