Seth Gilliam (born November 5, 1968 in New York City ) is an American film and theater actor .

Life

Gilliam gained his first acting experience in 1990/1991 in three episodes of the television series The Bill Cosby Show . This was followed by roles in television and cinema productions.

Seth Gilliam is best known for his roles in the HBO series Oz - Hell Behind Bars (as Clayton Hughes) and The Wire (as Sgt. Ellis Carver). His other film roles include Sergeant Steven Altameyer in Courage to Truth (1996) and Private Sugar Watkins in Starship Troopers (1997). Since 2014 he has played one of the leading roles with Gabriel in the US series The Walking Dead .
