Il Divo (Italian: the star ) is a band that combines musical genres such as opera and classical music with pop . The group consists of the four singers Urs Bühler (Switzerland), Carlos Marín (Spain), David Miller (USA) and Sébastien Izambard (France). According to the sources, they have sold more than 15.9 million records in their career. The most successful release of Il Divo is the album Il Divo with around 4.4 million units sold.

history

The English music and film producer Simon Cowell came up with the idea for Il Divo after he found a liking for classical music through Andrea Bocelli's performance of “ Con te partirò ”. He then started a worldwide search for singers, especially tenors, who wanted to take part in the Il Divo project. After two years, in December 2003, this was completed with the addition of the American tenor David Miller.

Music genre

In addition to pop music and classical music (opera), elements of Latin American music , folk and ballads can be found in some of Il Divo's songs . The group itself calls the emerging genre opera-pop .

Career

Il Divo (2012)

Il Divo sing in Spanish, English, French and Latin. In 2006 they were named “Most Multinational UK No. in the Guinness Book of Records ”. 1 Album Group "called.

On April 25, 2007, they appeared in the "Idol Gives Back" episode of the American television series American Idol , which was intended to raise funds for children in the United States and Africa.

On December 12th, 2008 Il Divo presented their new song in the finale of the Swedish television series " Swedish Idol 2008" in the Globen Arena in Stockholm .

After completing their six month tour of America, Australia and Europe, Il Divo was a special guest at all of Barbra Streisand's 20 concerts in North America.

On June 9, 2006, Il Divo and the rhythm and blues singer Toni Braxton presented the official song of the World Cup "The Time of Our Lives" during the half-time of the opening game of the 2006 World Cup . Another performance took place at the closing ceremony on July 9th.

The concert in Paraguay on December 20, 2011 in the Defensores del Chaco stadium was the largest of the group to date with 33,900 visitors.
