1959 Grammy Awards
The 1959 Grammy Awards were the first to be awarded the US Grammy Music Prize , which was intended to honor the previous year's musical work. The awards ceremony took place simultaneously on May 4, 1959 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills ( California ) and in New York City .
A total of 28 winners were awarded in the 13 categories from pop to classical and from production to composition.
