The Hollywood Bowl is one of the largest natural open-air stages, modeled on the ancient Greek theaters . It is located north of Hollywood , has a seating capacity of over 18,000 and is mainly used for music events. The opening was on July 11, 1922 .

history

At the opening of the Hollywood Bowl, the audience sat on simple wooden benches and the stage was also very simple. A first shell above the stage was built in 1926 together with a permanent seating installation for the audience. This stage roof was given its final shape in 1929. In 2003 the shell was rebuilt and expanded. In particular, the stage was technically upgraded and equipped with video screens and video cameras .

Today it is the seat of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra during the summer season . Many well-known stars of the show and music industry have performed on the stage, including The Beach Boys , Frank Sinatra , The Beatles (1964), Morrissey , Van Morrison , Pink Floyd , David Gilmour , The Doors , Kylie Minogue , Elton John , Tom Petty , Depeche Mode , Linkin Park, and Vince Gill . The show Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl became legendary .
