Vocal ensemble Rastatt

The Rastatt Vocal Ensemble is a mixed choir from Rastatt that focuses on baroque works and composers, but also works on works from the Classical , Romantic and 20th century .

history

It was founded in 1988 as the Young Vocal Ensemble Ötigheim . In 1993 it was renamed the Rastatt Vocal Ensemble . Under the direction of its conductor Holger Speck , the vocal ensemble developed into a chamber choir , which performed in competitions of the German Music Council, the international chamber choir competitions in Marktoberdorf and Tolosa.

CDs were published by Carus-Verlag . The choir has also appeared in radio and television productions for SWR , Radio France , Deutschlandradio Kultur Berlin and Deutschlandfunk Cologne.

The ensemble has made guest appearances at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden , at the Bremen Music Festival , the Cologne Philharmonic , the Rheinvokal Festival, the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe , the European Music Festival Stuttgart, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Wartburg Concerts of Deutschlandradio Kultur, the Baroque Festival Mulhouse and at the Center de Musique "Les Dominicains" in Guebwiller, France.

With Edita Gruberová in the title roles, the choir sang at the operas of “ Lucia di Lammermoor ” and “ Norma ” in Baden-Baden and Cologne. With Klaus Maria Brandauer and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe , the ensemble performed Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream at the Bremen Music Festival.

It works on a project-specific basis in a solo, classical chamber choir - or in oratorio with young singers who introduce themselves in an audition. Institutional sponsors are the city of Rastatt and the state of Baden-Württemberg.
