Ian Bostridge
Ian Bostridge , CBE (born December 25, 1964 in London ) is a British opera singer ( tenor ) who also acts as a lieder singer .
Life
education
The working-class son Ian Bostridge studied history and philosophy at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and after receiving his doctorate on witchcraft (1990) initially worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Corpus Christi College (Oxford) . Professionally, he turned to singing in 1992. He made his debut at Wigmore Hall in 1993.

- Concert appearances and a. with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis and Mstislaw Rostropovich , the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under Sir Charles Mackerras and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle

- 1994 Opera debut as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Australian Opera at the Edinburgh Festival
- 1996 debut at the English National Opera , for the first time as Tamino in the Magic Flute
- 1997 appearance as Quint in Deborah Warner's new production of Benjamin Britten -opera The Turn of the Screw under Sir Colin Davis for the Royal Opera
- In 1998 he sang Vasek in a new production of The Bartered Bride under Bernard Haitink for the Royal Opera
- 1998 Debut at the Munich Opera Festival ( Bavarian State Opera ) as Nerone ( L'incoronazione di Poppea )
- 1999 debut with the Vienna Philharmonic under Sir Roger Norrington
2016 as The Prologue and Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw at La Scala in Milan
Honors
- In 2004 Ian Bostridge was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to music .
- In 2013 he received the ECHO Klassik for Opera Recording of the Year (Opera of the 20th / 21st century).
- In 2014 he was again awarded the ECHO Klassik in the solo recording of the year category (singing) .
- In 2015, Bostridges Schubert's Winter Journey: Anatomy of an Obsession was awarded the Duff Cooper Prize .
