Josh Williams (born April 18, 1988 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American football player who is used as a defender . He is currently under contract with Columbus Crew .

Career

In his youth he was active with the Cleveland State Vikings . His first position as a professional was the Cleveland Internationals team until 2010 . He then moved to the Columbus Crew in Ohio in September 2010 . His first appearance in the MLS, however, was only on March 24, 2012 in a 2-0 win over Montreal Impact . Here he came on in the 75th minute for Sebastián Miranda . After the 2014 season he went on to New York City FC which he left for Toronto FC halfway through the 2015 season. He stayed there until the end of the 2016 season and then moved back to Columbus Crew.

With Toronto he was able to celebrate his only title win so far with the Canadian Cup in the 2016 season.
