Matthew "Matt" Lampson (born September 6, 1989 in Cleveland , Tennessee ) is an American soccer player who is currently under contract with the MLS franchise Columbus Crew from Ohio.
Career
He spent his youth in the Academy of the Columbus Crew and the Northern Illinois Huskies until 2008 . He then went to the Ohio State Buckeyes where he was active for the rest of his youth until the end of 2011.
After that, his first position was with Columbus Crew, where he was already active in his youth. In early June 2015 he was then awarded to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the second-rate USLC , the loan then ended 16 days later and he returned to Columbus. Another loan brought him to Charlotte Independence in early July 2015 , but this loan only lasted one month. He then stayed with his club until the end of February 2016 and then switched to Chicago Fire , for which he then appeared until mid-January 2018. For the rest of the year it went to Minnesota United . Which was followed by another year at LA Galaxy . Since the end of 2019 he has been under contract with Columbus Crew again.
Awards
Lampson, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of seventeen, has now been awarded the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year award three times for his LampStrong Foundation .
