Luis Mario Díaz Espinoza (born December 6, 1998 in Nicoya ) is a Costa Rican soccer player who is used as a midfielder . He is currently under contract with Columbus Crew .

Career

society

In his youth he played for AD Guanacasteca until 2016 . He then moved to the U20 of Municipal Grecia , from which he was able to advance firmly to the first team in early 2018. His first appearance in the Costa Rican first division , however, he received on September 17, 2017 in a 1: 4 away win at AD Municipal Liberia , in which he came on for Keysher Fuller in the 32nd minute . In the summer of 2018 he was then signed by CS Herediano , who should lend him back to his old club for the rest of the year. So it was only in the first half of 2019 that he started playing for his new club. He was not to be a member of this for long, however, as he was finally to move to the USA for the MLS franchise Columbus Crew in the summer of 2019 . He made his first appearance in the 2019 season on matchday 20 in a 2-2 draw at Chicago Fire .

National team

For the national team of Costa Rica he was allowed to enter the field for the first time in a friendly match against Uruguay on September 7, 2019 , in the game which was lost with 1: 2, he came into play for Joel Campbell in the 68th minute . In the Nations League , he received his first assignment on October 14 of the same year. In the game against the selection of Curaçao which ended 0-0, he came on for Allan Cruz in the 46th minute .
