Harrison Afful (born June 24, 1986 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian football player . The defender plays in Major League Soccer with the Columbus Crew .

Club career

Afful played during his youth at the Feyenoord Academy , a youth football academy run by Feyenoord Rotterdam in Ghana. In 2007 he was loaned to the Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko and won the national championship in 2008. In the summer of 2008, Afful completed trial training at Feyenoord Rotterdam and KV Mechelen , but did not receive a contract offer. With Espérance Tunis he was Tunisian champion in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In addition, he reached the final of the African Champions League three times in a row with Espérance , but the title was only won in 2011 , thanks to a goal by Harrison Afful.

National team career

In December 2007 he was surprisingly nominated in Ghana's squad for the Africa Cup of 2008 in their own country. He made his international debut during the tournament in the victorious game for third place as a late substitute. In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and the 2010 Africa Cup , he is one of the permanent staff.
