Tory Lanez
Tory Lanez (born July 27, 1992 in Toronto , Ontario ; real name Daystar Peterson ) is a Canadian rapper and singer . He first gained greater fame with his mixtape Lost Cause (2014) and the singles Say It and Luv , which reached number 23 and 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 . Since 2015 he has been under contract with Mad Love Records and Interscope Records .
Childhood and youth
Daystar Peterson was born on July 27, 1992 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. His father, Otherwise Peterson, comes from Barbados , his mother Luella Peterson comes from the Caribbean island of Curaçao , which however died early due to a rare disease. The family lived in Montreal for a while , but later moved to Miami , Florida . After their mother's death, their father began to work as a pastor and missionary , which resulted in them moving frequently within the United States . The father later married another woman and moved to Atlanta , Georgia . His friend and caretaker Hakeem, whom he met while moving house, gave him the nickname Lanez .
During his school days, Daystar worked and honed his musical achievements. In 2006, he was sent to his older brother for disrespectful behavior. Daystar later moved back to his native Toronto with his grandmother. However, she refused to take responsibility for him, which resulted in the fact that by the age of 15 he was often alone. "I was with these three guys I didn't really know. I walked into the house and didn't really understand how it all worked. I fought from 15 to about 18. Everyone was on their own. That was what made me a man - defending myself and being in a situation where there was no father, no grandmother and no mother. It changed who I am today, "said Daystar. At the age of 16 he was kicked out of school. After leaving school, he played songs at outdoor concerts . He started singing at the age of 16 and became interested in it, but never had any singing lessons. Daystar was inspired by artists like Brandy Norwood and R. Kelly .
His debut album I Told You was released on August 19, 2016 .
Lanez announced on Instagram in January 2018 that his second studio album Memories Don't Die will be released on March 2nd. Previously there were releases such as Shooters and Real Thing .
