Maxwell (rapper)

Maxwell (born March 23, 1993 in Hamburg , real name Maxwell Kwabena Schaden ) is a German rapper with Ghanaian roots. He belongs to the Hamburg rap crew 187 Strassenbande . His breakthrough came with the collaboration album Obststand , which he recorded together with LX , who is also a member of the 187 street gang.

Life

Maxwell grew up in the Hamburg district of Hohenfelde . At the age of 15 he began to be interested in Hamburg rappers like Nate57 and Bonez MC . The first contact with Bonez MC and Gzuz came about, but soon broke off. After meeting Bonez MC years later, he joined this and the 187 street gang . He made his debut with two feature tracks on the Gzuz and Bonez MC collaboration album High & Hungry . Furthermore, five tracks followed with him on the third sampler of the 187 Strassenbande. When LX joined the group, the idea arose to record something together, which resulted in their joint album Obststand , which was released on June 12, 2015. With number 5 in the German album charts , he was able to record his first major success. At the Echo Awards 2016 he was nominated as “Best Newcomer” together with LX, who was unable to attend the award ceremony due to his imprisonment.

His debut album Kohldampf , which contains 3 CDs, was released on March 24, 2017 .

On 187 Strassenbande's sampler 4 , published on July 18, 2017, he is represented with his track Meine Message and in parts of five other tracks. The album reached gold status in Germany and landed at number 1 on the album charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

On June 28, 2019, he and LX released their second collaboration album, Obststand 2 , with which they reached number 1 in the German charts.

Music genre

Like the rest of the 187 street gang, Maxwell uses his texts to process his experiences in youth and on Hamburger Straße. Much more important than the technique of his rap style is authenticity for Maxwell.
