Sampler 4 is the fourth sampler of Hamburger Hip-Hop - group 187 Street bonds , consisting of the rappers Bonez MC , Gzuz , Maxwell , LX and Sa4 . The album was released on July 18, 2017 via the labels Auf! Keinen! Fall! and Universal Music .

production

Almost the entire album was produced by Jambeatz , the music producer of the 187 street gang. Only the instrumentals for High Life and Smile are from Jumpa and The Cratez .

Cover design

The album cover shows the five rappers of the 187 street gang, from left to right: Sa4, Gzuz, Bonez MC, Maxwell and LX in black and white. In the foreground are the Mercedes CL 500 from Gzuz and the title Sampler 4 . At the upper edge of the picture is the lettering 187 Strassenbande presented .

Guest Posts

Only on one song does another artist appear next to the rappers of the 187 street gang. The rapper RAF Camora can be heard on the song High Life .

Chart successes and sales figures

Sampler 4 entered the German album charts at number 1 on July 21, 2017 , although the album only had three instead of seven sales days because it was released on a Tuesday. In the following week, the sampler stayed in first place. Overall, it stayed in the top 100 for 73 weeks. The album also reached the top of the charts in Austria and Switzerland. In the German annual album charts in 2017, it was ranked 17th and in 2018 ranked 75th.

In 2018, Sampler 4 received a gold record for over 7,500 units sold in Austria . In the following year, he was awarded platinum in Germany for over 200,000 units sold.

Records

The album set two new streaming records on the Spotify portal in its first week of sales . 22.9 million streams outperformed Sampler 4 both the previous record holder for international artists Ed Sheeran , who with his album ÷ reached 22.1 million streams in Germany after seven days, and the German record holder Bushido , who with the album Black Friday 14 , Scored 6 million streams in the first week.

Singles

On July 11th 2017 the first single Mit den Jungz by Bonez MC, Gzuz and LX was released for download . The song, for which a music video was shot, reached number 11 in the German charts. Another video for 100 Batzen was released on August 8, 2017.

After the album was released, all of the other songs on the sampler entered the German single charts , except for the song With Intention , due to high streaming views and individual downloads. The track millionaire , which reached number 2, charted particularly high . The chorus of this song, sung by Bonez MC, is melodically based on the hit Zombie by the Irish rock band The Cranberries from 1994.

Dominik Lippe from laut.de rated sampler 4 with three out of a possible five points. The rappers' lecture is peppered with “anti-intellectual announcements with deep, voluminous voices that are quite similar to one another” and sometimes contains “sleazy sexism”. The productions with “heavy bass” were convincing and were “simple but effective”.

Skinny from the website rap.de rated sampler 4 positively. On the album, the 187 street gang deliver "what they do best: lutes, credible street rap with corners, edges and massive productions". However, only a few songs would stand out from the crowd due to the beat or the singing of Bonez MC ( Millionaire , With Intentional ), as only “tried and tested” content is told. Overall, however, the sampler is "a welcome return to the strengths of the gang".

Steffen Uphoff from MZEE.com wrote, "There is hardly a group that fits the term" gangster rap "better." Overall, he rated the sampler positively and claimed that "Sampler 3 could not ask for a better successor."

At the 2018 Echo Awards , the 187 street gang was nominated nationally for the album in the Hip-Hop / Urban category.
