Mercedes-Benz CL-Class

As Mercedes-Benz CL-Class were from mid 1996 to the end of 2013 coupe variants of the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz , respectively.

Before the introduction of the class designation CL-Class ( Coupé Lang ) from Mercedes-Benz, the coupés of the S-Class ( series 126 and series 140 ) were still called SEC , from 1993 with the names S 420 C , S 500 C and Named S 600 C ( C 140 ). The term CL-Class was introduced in 1996 during the construction of the 140 series coupé. For three generations, the CL-Class remained the official sales name for the luxury-class coupés from Mercedes-Benz .

The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class is based on the respective sedans of the S-Class and, in addition to the design with two doors, has other changes in the body.

The smallest engine in the CL-Class is the CL 500 with a 4.7 liter displacement, the last version of which ( C 216 ) has 320 kW (435 hp).

With the successor to the C 216 , the C 217 , Mercedes-Benz introduced the sales name S-Class Coupé in summer 2014 .
