The Mercedes-Benz Cito O520 is a low-floor - Midibus that of 1999 and 2003. EvoBus was made.

During the development of the vehicle, it should be easy to convert to a fuel cell power supply at a later date , which is why it was equipped with a diesel-electric drive with a nominal output of 85 kW , which is unusual for buses . In order to have the necessary maneuverability even on smaller streets, it was built narrower than conventional city buses with a width of 2.35 m . In addition, the rear overhang (the part that "overhangs" behind the last axle of the bus) was extremely short. The target direction roughly corresponded to the Metroliner from Neoplan from 1988.

The Cito was available in the following three lengths:

  • 8.1 m with 12 seats
  • 8.9 m with 16 seats
  • 9.6 m with 20 seats

Production of the Cito was stopped in 2003. In the industry, despite the theoretical advantages, the high maintenance effort is criticized. EvoBus has not brought any further development in the direction of hybrid drive onto the market, although this would have been easily possible with the Cito, since only the control and energy storage would have had to be retrofitted.

The place of the minibuses with up to 20 seats in the range of Mercedes-Benz today is taken by bus bodies based on the Sprinter . The midibus Citaro K , introduced in 2006 , with a length of 10.5 m, the standard width of 2.55 m and 27 seats can only be considered as a successor to the Cito to a limited extent.
