Electric drive

In August 2010, the Mercedes Vito E-Cell panel van, produced in a small series of 100 in Vitoria in northern Spain, was presented to the press and delivered to selected lessees in Stuttgart and Berlin for test purposes by December. The tests are said to take four years or 80,000 km.

The vehicles were not converted, but manufactured as electric vehicles. The motor has an output of 70 kW (60 kW continuous output) and a torque of 280 Nm; the lithium-ion battery has a usable amount of energy for driving of 32 kWh (gross 36 kWh). The mass is about 200 kg larger than that of the combustion engine variant. This means that the van has a range (according to NEDC ) of 130 km. The electronically limited top speed is 89 km / h. A full charge on a 400 V three-phase network takes about six hours, on a single-phase 230 V AC network twelve hours. A recuperation was not present in the test series.

The Vito E-Cell panel van has been available ex works in selected European countries since April 2011. A variant has also been available as a station wagon since 2012. Both variants are equipped with an innovative regenerative braking system.
