description

The vehicle of a powered four-stroke - gasoline engine with four cylinders and rear wheel drive . It had a five-speed manual transmission .

While a lot of shiny metal was to be seen in the interior of the Mercedes-Benz study SLK I (20 percent of the surfaces were clad) - the interior of the Mercedes-Benz study SLK II is designed more elegantly with leather , the predominant color is blue (a " Bowing to the host nation “: French racing cars are traditionally painted blue). Otherwise, the Mercedes-Benz study SLK II differs from the Mercedes-Benz study SLK I in small details : The roll-over device is not covered and a convertible top has been added as an electro-hydraulic vario roof; the roof was opened or closed within 25 seconds.

Serial production

Mercedes-Benz Study SLK I and Mercedes-Benz Study SLK II were produced from 1996 to 2004 under the series name Mercedes-Benz R 170 . In 2000 the series underwent a facelift .
