Mercedes-Benz Vision GST was presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2002. Vision GST had a 5.5 liter petrol engine with an output of 265 kilowatts (360 horsepower), all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission .

Features were scissor doors with an opening angle of 90 degrees that open in opposite directions and the absence of the B-pillar . The roof was made of smart glass . Inside there were luminescent foils in the headliner , in the door panels and in the lower areas of the center tunnel . The seat covers and interior door panels were made of a mixture of fabric and leather .

The 22-inch wheels are intended to "underline the sporty character".

In January 2004 a further development, the Mercedes-Benz Vision GST 2 , was presented.
