The 'Mercedes-Benz W 247' is a compact van ( Sports Tourer ) from the German automobile manufacturer Daimler , which is sold under the Mercedes-Benz brand .

history

The car was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018 as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz W 246 produced between 2011 and 2018 . The W 247 has been available to order since December 3, 2018, and the first vehicles were delivered in January 2019.

A variant with a plug-in hybrid drive was presented in August 2019. The B 250 e is from 1.3-liter gasoline engine of the type M 282 (160 hp), with 118 kW in combination with a 75 kW (102 hp) electric motor driven. The system output is specified by Mercedes-Benz with 160 kW (218 hp). The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 15.6 kWh and enables an electric range of up to 77 kilometers. The vehicle is equipped with a CCS fast charging facility for an additional charge .

technology

The 177 series presented in February 2018 provides the technical basis for the new B-Class . The drag coefficient ( ) of the W 247 has been reduced from 0.25 to 0.24 compared to the previous model.

"Mercedes-Benz User Experience"

Like the A-Class, the compact van has software that functions as an intelligent personal assistant . It is called by the manufacturer Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). A voice control, which is activated with the command “Hey Mercedes”, can be used to give various commands, such as changing the radio station or changing the temperature. The software can be updated wirelessly . MBUX is included in the basic equipment.

Autonomous driving

The third generation of the B-Class is equipped for the first time with safety systems from the S-Class and can therefore drive partially automatically. For this purpose, the traffic environment is recorded up to 500 m in advance and compared with map and navigation data.

landing gear

The components of the chassis vary depending on the engine and special equipment. Mercedes-Benz uses MacPherson struts and forged wishbones as the front axle . Both the handlebars and the cast wheel carriers are made of aluminum. There are two variants for the rear axle. Weaker engines are combined with a torsion beam axle , more powerfully motorized models have a four-link rear axle . The wheel carrier and the spring link are made of aluminum. Front and rear there are coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers with electronically controlled adjustable damping.

Technical specifications

The market launch is the B-Class with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine of the type M 282 DE 14 with 100 kW (136 hp) or 120 kW (163 hp), a 1.5-liter diesel engine of the type OM 608 DE 15 with 85 kW (116 PS) or a two-liter diesel engine of the type OM 654q DE 20 with 110 kW (150 PS) or 140 kW (190 PS). The latter already fulfills the Euro 6d emissions standard that will come into force in 2020 , which is achieved through exhaust gas aftertreatment directly on the engine. Here the exhaust gas temperature is higher and the aftertreatment is more effective. All other drives are initially certified for Euro 6d-TEMP. More powerful gasoline engines have been available since January 2019.

A newly developed 8-speed dual clutch transmission is used for the first time in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle . This is only available for the two-liter diesel engine. More engines and all-wheel drive are to follow later .
