Stars in the Euro NCAP - Crash Test (2014) |
The Mercedes-Benz 447 series is the successor model of Viano- and Vito models ( model series 639 ), the third generation of vans of German automaker Daimler AG , which fall by the manufacturer as MPV is advertised. Like the first generation ( 638 series ) , the passenger car version of this series is marketed again as the V-Class , while the commercial vehicle variant of the model continues to be marketed as the Vito. For the first time, this generation of the small van from Mercedes-Benz is also being offered as Metris in the USA and Canada .
The vehicles are offered with two different wheelbases, 3200 mm and 3430 mm. There are three different lengths, 4895 mm, 5140 mm and 5370 mm, as well as three different body variants for the Vito, glass panes all around, sheet metal from the C-pillar and sheet metal from the B-pillar. In contrast to its predecessor, the V-Class is now only available with four-cylinder diesel engines, with the exception of the Chinese variant V 260 and the North American variant Metris, which are only available with the 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine M 274 .
history
The MPV was launched on May 31, 2014, and the Vito was launched on October 11, 2014. The Marco Polo, Marco Polo Horizon (both based on the V-Class) and Marco Polo Activity (Vito-based) motorhomes are also available. All three models are equipped by Westfalia Mobil .
A revised variant of the V-Class was presented at the 89th Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. In addition, the Concept EQV concept vehicle presented a preview of a battery-electric version of the V-Class. The production version of the EQV will debut at the International Motor Show in September 2019.
eVito / EQV
In the second half of 2018, a variant of the Vito panel van called eVito came onto the market with an 84 kW electric motor. Its range is given as 150 km with a full battery charge according to WLTP and its top speed is 120 km / h.
In spring 2019, Mercedes presented the electric V-Class. It is offered under the name EQV. In contrast to the Vito panel van, the Mercedes-Benz EQV is an XXL MPV with a maximum of eight seats. Equipped with a 90 kWh traction battery, the range is 352 km in accordance with the WLTP standard. The engine output is given as 150 kW and the top speed 160 km / h. The CCS-DC charging power is 110 kW. This means that the 90 kWh traction battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in around 45 minutes.

Recall for illegal defeat device
In May 2018 it became known that, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) , Daimler is using an illegal shut-off device for exhaust gas cleaning in the Vito van model with 1.6-liter diesel ( OM 622 ) and the Euro 6 emissions standard. The KBA therefore ordered a recall of the 6300 vehicles affected, 1372 of them in Germany.
