Mercedes-Benz W 07 was the internal name of Daimler-Benz AG for the Mercedes-Benz type 770 "Great Mercedes". As the successor to the Mercedes 630 with a 6.3-liter six-cylinder engine , the 5.6-meter-long "Type 770" with a 7.7-liter eight-cylinder engine was part of the Mercedes car range from 1930. The even longer W 150 with the same engine and 13 cm longer wheelbase was presented in 1938.

General

The 'Mercedes-Benz W 07 was the first mass-produced car to be available with an eight-cylinder compressor engine and was the largest and most expensive car of the Mercedes-Benz brand at the time. In mid-January 1931, the former German Kaiser Wilhelm II received a six-seater (F) convertible. The type 770 served as the state coach, among others, for President von Hindenburg , the Japanese Emperor Hirohito , and Pope Pius XI. , Pius XII. and Adolf Hitler .

With prices starting at 29,500 Reichsmarks just for the chassis , only a few wealthy private individuals could afford the car. The Pullman - Limousine cost 38,000 RM, the convertibles were up to 6500 RM expensive. A total of 119 vehicles of the first series were produced up to 1938.
