Werner Oswald (automobile historian)

Werner Oswald (* February 23, 1920 ; † 1997 ) was a German motor journalist and automobile historian.

Life

From 1950 Oswald was a journalist for auto motor und sport magazine . Along with Halwart Schrader and Eberhard Kittler, he is one of the best-known German automobile historians. Some of his books have been reissued several times (also revised). Around 1973 he was advertising manager at Deutsche Semperit GmbH in Munich.

With Heinz-Ulrich Wieselmann , the editor-in-chief of auto motor und sport , Oswald coined the term Erlkönig for the camouflaged prototype of an automobile.
