The Mercedes-Benz W 30 (sales name: Mercedes-Benz 150 ) was the second series-produced Mercedes-Benz with a mid-engine . It was produced from 1934 to 1936.
history
Six sports sedans of the W 30 were built for the 2000 km Germany tour in 1934. Roadsters were also produced on the same technical basis from 1935 . Some of the sports sedans were converted into roadsters. In contrast to the contemporary Type 130 , the Type 150 had the tank in the front of the car, eliminating the need for a trunk. The two-seater vehicles, which were quite expensive at 6600 Reichsmarks , therefore had little practical value. Due to a lack of customer interest, fewer than twelve units were built until the model was discontinued in 1936 without a successor. The only surviving roadster is in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim .
engine and gears
The Mercedes 150 was equipped with a four cylinder - OHV - line engine , installed longitudinally in front of the rear axle, equipped ( mid-engine ). The engine with a displacement of 1498 cm³ produced 40 kW (55 hp). The engine power was passed on to the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox. The two-door model reached a top speed of 125 km / h.
landing gear
A pendulum axle with coil springs was installed at the rear . The front wheels hung without axles on two transverse leaf springs ( independent wheel suspension ).
Body versions
Initially, the factory built six sports sedans for participation in the 2000 km Germany tour. Some of these sports sedans, none of which have survived today, were later given a roadster body. In addition, some new cars with a roadster body were manufactured. All superstructures had two rear-hinged doors.
