McLaren Automotive Ltd. (until 2003 McLaren Cars ) is a British manufacturer of super sports cars in small series and a subsidiary of the McLaren Group .

history

McLaren Automotive emerged as McLaren Cars in 1989 from the McLaren Racing team . The first project was the F1, produced from 1993 to 1997 . From 2003 to 2009, the SLR McLaren was produced in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz in the plants in Portsmouth and Woking . In September 2009 the in-house development MP4-12C and in April 2014 the model 650S based on the 12C was presented, which became the first model of the newly founded Super Series .

In 2015 the first model of the Sports Series , the 570S, was presented, which is positioned as an entry-level model below the 650S. The 675LT was launched in the same year . It is another model in the Super Series and is based on the 650S. Coupé and Spyder are limited to 500 copies each.

Company color

McLaren achieved its first racing successes in the 1960s and 1970s, when the vehicles were painted in a special orange. This "papaya orange" color is the corporate color of McLaren to this day.
