Townend Engineering was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Brothers Geoff and Peter Townend founded the company in 1958 and began producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Townend . Production ended in 1962. A total of about 60 copies were made.

The only model was the 581 . The basis of the vehicles was the chassis of the Ford Eight and Ford Ten . An open two-seater body was mounted on top. A four-cylinder engine powered the vehicle. The kit was priced at £ 108 including doors and lights . A hard top was £ 20 extra.
