Renegade is a British car brand.

Brand history

Philip Pell and John Abraham founded in the 1960s in London , the company Pell Abraham Broadcasting Corporation and Import Volkswagen buggies from Glassco from the United States . In 1970 the company started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Renegade . Bob Ridgard of Four Seasons Buggy in London was one of the sellers. In 1971 he also took over production. GP Projects from Princes Risborough took over the project between 1975 and 1976. After a long break, James Hale from GT Moldings from Portslade continued production in 1995. Since 2003, KMR Beach Buggies from Birmingham has been producing the vehicles under the direction of Martyn and Rob Falk. A total of around 320 copies have been made so far.

The export has so far been to the USA, Belgium , France , Germany , Spain , Greece , Sweden , Malta , Iceland , the Canary Islands , Saudi Arabia , Singapore and the West Indies .

There is no connection to Renegade Speedsters from Norfolk , who have been offering replicas of the Porsche 356 Speedster since 2008 and use the same brand name.

vehicles

The only model still in production is a VW buggy. The basis is a chassis from the VW Beetle . While only shortened chassis were used at the beginning, a version for a full chassis has also been available since 1973. At the beginning, a kit including the curved windshield of the Ford Anglia cost 145 pounds . Around 310 copies have been made so far.

Between 1973 and 1974 there was also the T model . It corresponded to the jet of ApaI and was also a buggy on a uncut VW Beetle chassis. Only ten vehicles were made. Perfect Plastics from Philadelphia made later in the USA, the model and marketed it as Tuff Tub buggy .
