Gentry (make of car)
Gentry is a British car brand.
Brand history
Roger M. Blockley, who previously for Triumph worked, founded in 1973, the company RMB engine in Barwell in the county of Leicestershire . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name is Gentry . Terry Phillips and Mick Sinclair from TM Motors in the same location took over production in 1989. The company was later renamed SP Motors and in 1997 TP Motors when Sinclair left the company. Production initially ended in 2001. The Vintage Motor Company from Pontefract in West Yorkshire under the direction of Alan Beillby produced from 2002 to 2006 and the Gentry Motor Car Company from Nuneaton in Warwickshire under the direction of Geoff Beston and Ellen Beston since 2008. A total of around 2500 examples have been produced so far.

Only one model is available. It is similar to the MG TF from the 1950s. Initially, a chassis from the Triumph Herald with a four-cylinder engine or the Triumph Vitesse with a six-cylinder engine was used. There was also a tubular frame. The structure consisted partly of plywood , aluminum and fiberglass . From 1975 both a shorter chassis from the Triumph Spitfire and a chassis developed in-house were available. In 1989 a Ford chassis was added.
