Nimbus Cars , previously Nimbus Projects Limited , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The designer Ian Shearer and Ian McClean donors founded in 1984, the company Nimbus Projects Limited in Whitchurch in the County of Hampshire . They started making automobiles and kits . The brand name was Nimbus . In 1986 Ian Shearer left and Anthony Coleman from Custom Molds joined. This involved the change of name to Nimbus Cars and the move to Andover in Hampshire. Ian McClean died that same year. Production ended in 1987. A total of about 24 copies were made.
vehicles
The only model was the coupe . The basis was a special chassis into which a front subframe from the Mini was mounted in the rear. The front suspension and brakes were originally from the Vauxhall Viva , but have been redesigned. A four-cylinder engine from the Hillman Imp was mounted as a mid- engine. The windshield came from the Ford Escort and the headlights from the VW Scirocco . The body was made of plastic reinforced with aramid and glass fibers . A version as a convertible remained a prototype .
