The Swallow Coachbuilding Co. (1935) Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles and sidecars .

Company history

William Lyons founded the Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool in 1922 for the production of sidecars, which then also manufactured automobiles and marketed them as SS . From 1927 the company was called Swallow Coachbuilding Company . In 1935 he founded SS Cars Limited for automobile production, which later became Jaguar Cars , while the original company was known as Swallow Coachbuilding Co. (1935) Limited . 1945 took over Helliwells Ltd. the naming rights to the Swallow brand . Helliwells existed since 1899 and manufactured engine parts. Between 1946 and 1951, a branch in Treforest , Wales, produced motor scooters , including those with sidecars. Tube Investments Ltd. from Walsall took over the company, manufactured automobiles between 1954 and 1955 and sold them under the brand name Swallow . In 1956, Watsonian Squire Sidecars took over the company.

Automobiles

The only model was the Swallow Doretti . This was a two-seater sports car. 276 copies were made of this model.
