Seta Cars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seta Cars was a British car manufacturer that offered a kit for a coupe with gullwing doors from 1976 to 1978 .

Company history

The in Hayling Iceland in the county of Hampshire -based company Seta (Italian for silk ) was founded in 1976 by Malcolm Wilson. It only produced one model, the Seta Saga, which was only sold half a dozen times in three years. In 1979, after changing the name to Zeta, Wilson tried unsuccessfully to sell the company. The company continued to exist as Zeta Cars until 1982, but no more vehicles were sold during this time.

Zeta saga

The Seta Saga was a wedge-shaped coupe with gullwing doors. Its basic shape with the steeply sloping front section and the trapezoidal windshield was roughly based on the Lamborghini Countach , but was structured much more simply overall. The side windows were in two parts and surrounded by wide frames. The VW Beetle served as the technical basis , from which the floor pan, mechanical components and engine were taken over unchanged. The Saga was only available as a kit; the content of the kit is described as comprehensive.

Six copies of the saga were made by 1978.
