Light Car Company Rocket

The Light Car Company was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Gordon Murray and Chris Craft founded the company in St Neots in 1991 and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Light Car Company . Production ended in 1998. A total of 55 vehicles were built.

The only model was the Rocket . The vehicle was designed to be even more lightweight than the Lotus Seven . The open, doorless body offered space for two people. A tubular frame formed the chassis . A built-in engine from Yamaha with 1000 cc displacement and either 143 HP or 165 HP propelled the vehicle. The top speed was specified as 230 km / h for the weaker model. With a wheelbase of 2413 mm, the vehicle was 3518 mm long, 1600 mm wide and 914 mm high.

Rocket R & D Limited attempted a reissue of the vehicle in 2007.
