Carisma Engineering Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Andrew Charles Hobbs and Glyn Ford founded the company in 1989 in Sandy in the county of Bedfordshire . They started making automobiles and kits . The brand name was Carisma . Andrew Charles Hobbs and Rosemary Hobbs were later the directors. Production ended in 1992.
Scorhill Motors from Walton-on-Thames in Surrey continued production while retaining the brand name. A total of about 37 copies were made.
vehicles
The vehicles were based on a steel ladder frame. An open body, which was mainly made of fiberglass , was mounted on it. Only the sides of the bonnet were made of aluminum . The vehicles were similar to the SS 100 from the 1930s. A four-cylinder engine from the Ford Cortina powered the vehicles.
About 35 copies of the two-seater Century were made. The four-seater Manhattan appeared in 1992 and was less successful with about two copies sold.
