Altair Engineering was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Tony Weale, who previously at Caterham Cars has worked, founded in 2000, the company in Reigate in the county of Surrey . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Altair . Production ended in 2005. A total of about five copies were made.

The only model was the 1172 . This was a 1960s style roadster . The basis was a spaceframe chassis. A two-seater body made of aluminum was mounted on top. The four-cylinder engine with 1172 cc displacement and 30 hp power came from Ford Popular .
