Haldane Motor Company , previously Haldane Developments Limited , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John Haldane founded Haldane Developments Limited on September 15, 1988 in Glasgow , Scotland . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Haldane . In 1993 Brian Harrison and Alisdair Scott took over production. In 1994 the liquidation began and on January 22, 1999 it was dissolved. In 1994 Pilgrim Cars took over the company and ran it as Haldane Motor Company in Henfield , West Sussex . Production ended in 2008. A total of about 136 copies were made.

The first model was the HD 100 . This was a replica of the Austin-Healey 100 . A body made of fiberglass was mounted on a chassis developed in-house . The four-cylinder engine came from the Vauxhall Chevette . From 1993, a revised chassis to accommodate Ford engines came out. About 100 copies were made between 1987 and 1994.

In 1991 the HD 300 added to the range. It was based on the Austin Healey 3000 and otherwise corresponded to the first model. About 36 copies were made by 2008.
