Winchester Automobile (West End) Ltd. was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The London company started producing automobiles in 1963. The brand name was Winchester . Production ended in 1972. A total of around 200 copies were made.

Only taxis were on offer . Rubery Owen designed the chassis . A fiberglass body made by James Whitson & Co. Ltd of West Drayton was mounted on top . Initially, the vehicle was powered by a 43 hp diesel engine from Perkins Engines . Starting in 1964, came in the second version Mk II , a gasoline engine from the Ford Cortina with 1,500 cc engine capacity used. Wincanton Transport and Engineering manufactured the bodies from 1965. The following version Mk III brought few changes. In 1968 the Mk IV appeared with a new body. Keewest Developments Ltd. from Hampshire now produced the chassis.
