Electric Motors (Hove) Ltd. , previously Battery Manufacturing Association , BMA & Electrical Equipment Co. and Gates & Pearson Ltd. , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company Battery Manufacturing Association of Hove began in 1951 with the production of automobiles, based on the models of Hazeldine engine . The brand name was BMA . Company names changed to BMA & Electrical Equipment Co. , Gates & Pearson Ltd. and ultimately Electric Motors (Hove) Ltd. followed. Production ended in 1957. A total of seven vehicles were built. Of these, one each was exported to Sri Lanka and Denmark .

The Hazelcar model was on offer . It was an electric car . A four-pole electric motor with either 1.5 HP or 2 HP propelled the vehicle. The transmission had four gears. The maximum speed was specified with 32 km / h and the range with 96 km. The open two-seater body was made of aluminum . The price of £ 535 was too high to be a success in the market.

The second vehicle with the chassis number E 12 received the British license plate GBK 155 on August 7, 1951 and the seventh vehicle with the chassis number E 17 1953 the license plate HNJ 517 .

The auction house RM Auctions auctioned on February 16, 2013, a vehicle from 1953 with chassis number E 17 from the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum for 9200 dollars .
