Ogle design
Ogle Design is a British design studio based in Letchworth Garden City , Hertfordshire .
history
The company was named D. Ogle Ltd. Founded in 1954 by David Ogle and engaged in industrial design. 1959 began with the design and the small series production of automobiles. The first Ogle car, the Ogle 1.5 , was introduced in 1961 and was based on the Riley 1.5 . Other vehicles, all sporty coupes , were created based on the Mini . In 1962, the company founder had a fatal accident in an Ogle SX 1000 .
While small series production was not very extensive by 1962, it was completely stopped after Ogle's death. In total, only 76 Ogels were built. Nevertheless, prototypes continued to emerge, including the Coupé Ogle SX 250 based on the Daimler SP250 and a sedan based on the Ford Cortina . The Ogle SX 250 later became the production model Reliant Scimitar . In 1971, Ogle's chief designer Tom Karen designed the Ogle Sotheby Special on the chassis of the Aston Martin DBS V8 on behalf of a cigarette manufacturer , and a second model based on the Aston Martin V8 I was created two years later .
In 1974 the company was split into two separate areas: industrial design and automotive design. In 1999 the Ogle Noor Division was founded.
The Ogle SX 1000 is available again today and is built by Nostalgia Cars .
