Griffin (make of car)
Griffin was a British car brand.
Brand history
1975 Jim Finch founded the company Group Design (according to another source Griffin Design ) in Poole in the county of Dorset . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was initially GD-XM . In 1976 or 1977 the brand name changed to Griffin . In 1979 Nomad Sales from Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex or from Crowthorne in Berkshire took over production, and in 1983 Balena Cars from Swanage in Dorset. Production ended in 1985. A total of about 20 copies were made.
Interplan from Diez sold the vehicle in Germany.
vehicles
Jim Clark was the designer. A hardtop was available for the open body . Initially, the vehicles were based on the chassis of the Morris Minor in the delivery van version. The four-cylinder engine was mounted in the front of the vehicle and powered the rear axle. Alternatively, the four-cylinder engine from the MG Midget and a V8 engine from Rover were available.
From 1977 or 1978, a slightly longer version was also available based on the chassis of the VW Beetle .
