Jeffrey Racing Cars

Jeffrey Racing Cars was a British car manufacturer based in Shilton, Oxfordshire . The company became known for its kit cars . From 1971, complete sports cars were also built there.

Company history

George Jeffrey founded the company in 1968. At first he made racing cars. In 1971, the first model followed that could also get street legal. The brand name was Jeffrey . Production ended in 1974. In 1975 the company was dissolved. Dave Cox of Emba Cars manufactured some vehicles of the second road model between 1974 and 1975, which were also marketed as Jeffrey .

The first road model was the Jeffrey J 4 from 1971. The vehicle consisted of a tubular frame, the chassis from the Morris Minor , steering from Triumph , a built-in engine from Ford of Britain and a lightweight body made of GRP . The open roadster was similar to the Lotus Seven and weighed only 500 kg. The wheelbase was 2286 mm. 30 copies were produced by 1972.

In 1972 the Jeffrey J 5 followed , also known as the Jeffrey JS 5 . This model was only available as a road vehicle. Initially the body was made of aluminum and fiberglass , later of fiberglass. The tubular frame of the previous model had been redesigned. Various four-cylinder Ford engines were used for the drive . The displacements ranged from 1.1 l to 1.6 l. By 1974, Jeffrey Racing Cars produced 26 units and by 1975 another six at Emba Cars.
