The Jago Automotive Ltd. was a British automobile manufacturer based in Chichester, Sussex between 1965 and 1997 . A number of kit cars were built there that looked similar to the Jeep models.

description

In 1965 Geoff Jago founded Geoff Jago Custom Automotive Ltd. for making vehicles similar to hot rods . In 1971, he manufactured the vehicle for which the company became known, the Jago Geep . The car had a fiberglass-reinforced plastic body that was removed from an original Willys Jeep from WWII . It rested on a chassis and had the chassis and drive of the Ford Anglia 105E. In 1974 another version based on the Morris Minor was added and in 1976 another version based on the Ford Escort .

In 1979 the company was renamed Jago Automotive .

In 1983 the Jago Samuri , a four-seater beach buggy, was introduced. The kit car was £ 795 plus tax.

In 1991 the Geep model was renamed Jago Sandero in order to avoid copyright and trademark problems. The last version on the Suzuki 4x4 chassis came in 1994, but sales plummeted and so the last kit was made around 1997.
