Dante Engineering Company Limited , previously Robin's Sporting Motorist Agency , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Robin Read founded the company in Luton in 1956 as a tuning company . In 1957 the production of automobiles and kits began . The brand name was Dante . Jem Marsh was one of the vendors. Production ended in May 1959 when the company went into liquidation . A total of about 60 copies were made. Robin Read later worked for Lotus Cars .

The base of the vehicles was a chassis from the Austin 7 . An aluminum body was mounted on top. The models Basis , Sprint and Clubman were available .
