Sutol Motorsport was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Murray Lewis founded the company in 1989. Depending on the source, it was located in Billborough near Sleaford in the county of Lincolnshire or in Darlaston near Walsall . He started producing automobiles and kits in 1990 . Another source states that production started in 1986. The brand name was Sutol . Production ended in 1992. A total of about 14 copies were made.

The only model was the 23 . This was the replica of the Lotus 23 . Usually used as racing cars, there were also some road legal vehicles. A spaceframe made of steel tubes formed the basis. An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on top. The engine was placed in a mid-engine design behind the seats and drove the rear wheels. One source indicates that different four-cylinder engines from Ford cc 1100, 1300 cc and 1600 cc engine capacity were used. Another source names engines from Alfa Romeo Alfasud and VW Beetles as well as from Ford and Triumph .
