Raffo Cars was a British manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
John Raffo founded in 1985, the company in Southport in the county of Merseyside . He started with the production of Formula Vee racing cars, automobiles and kits . The brand name was Raffo . Production ended in 2000. Harlequin Autokits continued production of two models until 2005, although it remains unclear whether they were marketed as Raffo or Harlequin . A total of about 34 copies were made.
vehicles
The first model was the Tipo 11 . A spaceframe formed the basis. A fiberglass body was mounted on top. A special feature was the forward-opening pulpit above the passenger compartment, similar to the Bond Bug . The vehicles were powered by a four - cylinder boxer engine from the Alfa Romeo Alfasud with a mid-engine design. About eleven copies were made by 1988.
This was followed in 1988 by the Tipo 12 . In terms of chassis and engine, it corresponded to the first model. This racing car was available both open and closed. Around 14 copies were made by 1991.
In 1996 the Belva , also called Tipo 16 , appeared. This was a coupe with gullwing doors . A four-cylinder Ford engine with either 1800 cm³ or 2000 cm³ displacement in the center of the vehicle propelled the vehicles. Raffo Cars from 1996 to 2000 and Harlequin car kits from 2000 to 2005 made about seven copies.
In 2000 the Belvetta , also known as Tipo 17 , added to the range. It was an open two-seater. About two copies were made by 2005.
