Viking Cars , previously Classic Cars of Coventry (Viking Cars) , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Peter Morris and Craig Hinton founded Classic Cars of Coventry (Viking Cars) in 1980 . The seat was either in Coventry or in Blaby in the county of Leicestershire . The production of automobiles and kits began. The brand name was Viking . The partnership ended, whereupon Hinton founded Leaping Cats in Blaby in 1982 . Morris continued to run the company alone, which from 1982 traded as Viking Cars and was based in Narborough in Leicestershire. Production ended in 1983. A total of about ten copies were made.
vehicles
One model was the 380 , which corresponded to the Leaping Cats 380 SSR . The vehicle was similar to the SS 100 , but was not a direct replica . The basis was a self-developed chassis with engine and wheel suspension from the Jaguar XJ 6 . An open body made of aluminum was mounted on it. The fenders were made of fiberglass . About eight copies of this model were made.
The other model was the Mercedes 320 Replica . This was a replica of the Mercedes-Benz 320 in the version as a staff car. The open body had four doors. The Jaguar Mark IX formed the basis . Two copies of this model were made in 1982. One carried the vehicle registration number L-15237 .
