The Jaguar Mark IX was a luxury four-door sedan that Jaguar launched in the fall of 1958 as the successor to the Jaguar Mark VIII . The vehicle type had a six-cylinder in-line engine with 3781 cm³ displacement and 220 bhp, which drove the rear wheels via a four-speed gearbox with center shift. The sedan reached a top speed of 185 km / h. A four-speed transmission with overdrive or a three-speed automatic transmission were also optionally available.

The chassis and body were taken over from the predecessor. All four wheels were now equipped with disc brakes, and the car had power steering as standard, with the exception of the so-called Mark VIII-B models for the military. The latter were given a partition between the driver and the rear. Until 1961 10.012 vehicles were produced before the model by the Jaguar Mark X was replaced.
