The Jaguar Mark VII was a four-door luxury saloon, the Jaguar in the fall of 1950 as a successor to the Jaguar Mark V brought to market.
The Jaguar Mark VII had the six-cylinder DOHC in-line engine of the Jaguar XK 120 with 3442 cm³ displacement and 160 bhp. The rear wheels were driven up to a top speed of 165 km / h via a four-speed gearbox with center shift. The chassis was taken over from the predecessor, but for the first time the body managed without free-standing fenders: the headlights were fully integrated into the body and the overall appearance appeared more modern and smooth. The wheel cutouts of the rear wheels were covered. Until 1954 20937 copies were manufactured.
The Jaguar Mark VII M appeared in the fall of 1954. Its engine of the same size developed 190 bhp and gave the vehicle a top speed of 170 km / h. Additional fog lights, modified indicators, rear bumpers pulled up to the wheel cutouts and larger rear lights were the distinguishing features of the predecessor. At the customer's request, an overdrive for the four-speed gearbox or a three-speed automatic gearbox (only for export, since the end of 1953 also in the Mark VII) was installed. A total of 10,060 units of the Mark VII M were sold.
In 1956 the production of the Mark VII M was stopped. The successor was the Jaguar Mark VIII .
