The X150 is a vehicle of the upper class , which the British carmaker Jaguar was produced. The X150 was sold under the name Jaguar XK in the body variants Coupé and Cabriolet and offered in three performance levels. It replaces its predecessor, the XK8 .
The XK was presented at the IAA 2005 and appeared in March 2006, initially with a 4.2 liter V8 engine. The engine remained largely unchanged. In mid-2007, a version of the 4.2 l engine reduced to 3.5 l followed .
In July 2014, production ended without a successor.
General
From aluminum existing body was the Jaguar design chief Ian Callum designed and shows the new and more modern design Jaguars. Thanks to the weight savings compared to its predecessor, the car can achieve better driving performance. While the exterior is intended to illustrate the departure from classic forms, the interior was equipped with various types of wood and leather, as is typical of Jaguar.
With the XKR-S, Jaguar launched a limited series (200 copies) based on the XKR. The XKR-S has the same performance as the XKR. Instead, Jaguar modified the design of the car. Lower front and rear aprons, new side skirts and a rear wing add even sportier accents. In addition, the XKR-S is equipped with more powerful, race-proven Alcon brakes, more direct ZF steering and a sports suspension in conjunction with 20-inch wheels. In August 2008 the special model was launched on the German market for € 116,900.
At the London Motor Show 2008 a second special model called the XK60 premiered, symbolizing the sixtieth anniversary of the XK series. It is available as both a convertible and a coupé. The engine corresponds to 4.2. The equipment features of the anniversary edition include 20-inch rims, a new front spoiler and numerous chrome applications. The special edition was built from July 2008.
The prices came to around 77,000 euros for the coupé and around 85,000 euros for the convertible.
Facelift
From mid-2007 individual changes were made to the original model of the XK. Among other things, the classic extendable antenna on the rear right fender has been omitted and has been housed in the rear spoiler from this point on. Furthermore, minor changes were made to the interior.
In February 2009 a revised XK was introduced, which has vertical ventilation gills in the front apron and LED flashing lights in the exterior mirrors. The taillights also received LED technology. The rear apron was pulled down further. The tailpipes were now oval. In the interior, the instruments in the dashboard are now illuminated in white. In addition, the automatic selector lever in the center console, which is replaced by the retractable rotary knob, has since been omitted. With the facelift, new engines found their way into the XK.
In September 2011 the XK series was modified again.
The headlights were reduced in size, redesigned and now received LED daytime running lights. The radiator grille was changed, as well as the new front apron with side air intakes. At the rear, a narrower chrome strip moved in. The lights, which have LED technology, have been redesigned.
At the same time, the new top model XKR-S was introduced. The convertible version of the XKR-S was also presented at the LA Auto Show 2011.
Engines
After initially only the XK 4.2 was available, the Jaguar XKR with supercharging was added in the summer of 2006. The R version is visually recognizable by a grille with a grille , additional ventilation openings on the bonnet, air inlets in the front apron for cooling the brakes and an exhaust system with two round twin tailpipes.
In February 2009 the AJ-V8 Gen III with 5.0 liters was introduced.
